By Rich Hansen, MMA Torch Columnist:
Well, that didn’t last long. I come up with a great idea, dangle a prize in front of you people, but make it darn near impossible to obtain so that I can dangle it for several months in a row if not longer. I said, Just submit a perfect betting and a perfect picks entry, and you win a copy of Total MMA. Brilliant. After all in the entire time I’ve administered these stooped little games, only three people entered a ‘perfect perfect.’ And one of those people was me. So I figured I could use that little promotion for several months.
Or, maybe it would last for just one night. Congrats to Avery Clarke for being one of two players to submit a perfect perfect. Avery’s perfect perfect had the better beggin entry, so one copy of Total MMA by Jonathan Snowden is going to Canada (such a waste, eh?). Chris Knight loses Adrienne Curry, and then even worse misses out on becoming part of MMA Torch lore. So sad.
To the games themselves; Avery Clarke successfully defended his betting title with a payout of $3509.80. That was more than $2000 higher than the entry for challenger Mark Bunce. Bunce had a perfect betting entry, but his payout of $1635.29 was way too conservative to get past Clarke’s fantastic betting card.
Not only did Avery Clarke win the book, not only did he defend his betting title, but he is also the new confidence picks champion as well. As you know, Clarke went 11-0, which was well more than enough to defeat former champion Matt Pelkey. Pelkey went 0-11. That’s right. He pulled the collar on a night where ten betting favorites won fights. At least, I assume he pulled the collar, seeing as how he didn’t submit an entry and all!!! Being two weeks with the 142 results was bad, but it wasn’t as bad as forgetting to defend a title. For shame, Matty.
Looking forward to Japan and UFC 144, Avery Clarke will defend his betting title against Erwin (Skarz) Bouwman. Skarz had an identical betting entry to Avery Clarke, so great mind thinks alike, eh? That should make for quite the shootout at the end of this month. And in another great UFC 144 matchup, Clarke and the aforementioned Chris Knight will square off for the Confidence Picks championship. As you should recall, Knight won the pool at UFC 143 by going 11 for 11 with his picks.

Performer of the Night: Avery Clarke, again. He defended one title, won the other title, and went perfect perfect to get there. Not only that, but he won a little swag, as well. To be fair, there were plenty of people who had fantastic entries because so much chalk won. Everyone should be proud.
Goat of the Night: Well, everyone should be proud except for Forgot To Play Guy, that is.
