There's been talk from Joe Rogan and Dana White recently about how UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey could defeat half of the UFC male bantamweights. I think Rogan actually mentioned the UFC flyweights, but it's all irrelevant because this whole topic is ridiculous and dumb.

The truth is, Rousey would get destroyed by most male fighters. Yeah, there's a part of me that thinks it'd be awesome if she fought and beat a man, but I don't think it should ever happen. In fact, it's insulting to what Rousey has done to even suggest it. I'm pretty sure that Rogan and White didn't realize what they were doing when they brought this topic up, but it was incredibly clueless. Men and women are just different. I fully believe in equality, I treat everyone the same, but the idea of a woman fighting a man is absurd. There's a huge difference between men of different weights fighting and a man fighting a woman. Even if the woman is twenty, thirty, or forty pounds heavier, it doesn't matter. Men and women are just different.

I don't like this topic being brought up because it diminishes what Rousey has done. Instead of the discussions being about how spectacularly Rousey has demolished her opponents, we're stuck with this garbage about how she'd do against a man. It's because of that I was hesitant to even bring this up in my blog, but I just wanted my feelings about this topic known.

I want to talk about how Ronda Rousey has accomplished things that no one has ever done. Her last two title defenses have taken a total of thirty seconds. We've all seen countless title fights that didn't feature any action at all for thirty seconds, let alone two stoppages. There are high-level opponents that Rousey is doing this to, as well. She's not fighting someone getting off a barstool, these are great athletes she's beating. The fact that she's making it look so easy is insane. She's taken things that are supremely hard to do (quick finishes) and made them look routine. Rousey is on such a roll that it's hard to imagine anyone even lasting two rounds with her, let alone beating her.

The fighters that Rousey has beaten are very, very good. It's hard to tell in the Rousey fights because of how dominant she is, but that's what makes it even more impressive. I don't know who's next, and there's part of me that wants to be flip and say it doesn't matter, but I do know that I'll be eagerly watching. We're watching one of the most dominant fighters of all time here. I'm loving every second of it, no matter how few there are.

*************

UFC 185 is this weekend, and it's the beginning of a bigtime stretch of pay-per-views for the UFC. The headliner is UFC Lightweight Champion Anthony Pettis vs. Rafael dos Anjos. I love watching Pettis fight because he's so dynamic that he could end the fight at anytime. Pettis deserves to be one of the most celebrated fighters in the UFC, but his size and injury history prevent that right now. Here's hoping that this isn't the only time this year we get to watch Pettis fight. Dos Anjos is a good fighter in his own right, but there's no way I can pick him to win. I think Pettis wins this by TKO in the second round.

The co-main event is UFC Women's Strawweight Champion Carla Esparza vs. Joanna Jedrzejzcyk. This will be Esparza's first title defense and I think she takes it by fourth round submission. I think Esparza is just the better fighter. Nothing against Jedrzejzcyk, who's also very good, but she's just not as good as Esparza is.

This card also features Johny Hendricks vs. Matt Brown in a battle of welterweight sluggers. I'm going with Brown in an upset, and I think he takes the decision. I was a bit more confident in that pick until I saw a picture of Hendricks with abs, which tells me that his cardio should be very good in this fight. I'm still going with Brown, though, as I think his relentless pace will work well for him here.

UFC 185 also has a heavyweight fight between Roy Nelson and Alistair Overeem. I don't think this will be a great fight, but I am hoping for it. Both of these guys are near the bottom of the top ten in the division so they have a ways to go to try to get into title contention. I don't think either guy ever will get close, but I suppose you never truly know. I think Nelson wins this fight by second round TKO. Overeem certainly has the skills, but I don't think he has the intangibles.

The final main card fight is Chris Cariaso vs. Henry Cejudo in a flyweight fight. I think Cejudo wins but he's had issues making weight several times. It doesn't seem as though he can consistently make 125 lbs. so I'm wondering why he's even trying. He's very talented, though, but it seems as though bantamweight might be a better division for him. I guess we'll see, though.
