Former WEC Featherweight Champion Urijah Faber remains one of the organization's biggest stars, and with one major ad campaign with Amp Energy already under his belt, Faber is now being featured in another.
K-Swiss, who recently acquired Faber's clothing company FORM Athletics, is running a new ad campaign starring Danny McBride as Kenny Powers, his foul-mouthed former MLB pitcher character from HBO's Eastbound and Down. The campaign is for their new "Tubes" athletic shoes, and Faber is featured in a number of spots for the campaign.
He's got some big time athletic company as well, as the NFL's Jeremey Shockey and Patrick Willis are featured in at least one of the spots as well. It's another sign of Faber's increased crossover appeal, and despite the recent losses on his record Faber remains a fighter incresaingly in the public eye. Check out some of the new spots, including a profanity laced introduction from FunnyOrDie.com, below (App users video available at MMATorch.com):
Penick's Analysis: This type of endorsement deal is the exception for MMA, as off the top of my head Faber joins only Georges St. Pierre and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson as being a part of a deal like this. The spots are pretty funny, too, as McBride's Kenny Powers is one of the more inspired characters on television in recent years. Irreverent, offensive and completely oblivious, Powers on Eastbound and Down is a hysterical character on a really funny show. Faber getting the rub with that as well as the participation of Shockey and Willis is definitely cool to see.

"There's still a large contingent of people, that they just want to see these guys almost die, or the other guy almost die and come back, and sometimes fights are like that. Certainly they are. But sometimes you get technical masterpieces too, and to hate a beautiful, technical fight - you're not really a fight fan...
Diaz has a granite chin, possesses perhaps the best recovery in the sport, his pace and conditioning are second to none and he sets records with the volume of his punches almost every time he steps into the cage. Nick Diaz is simply designed to fight the way he fights, and not many other fighters are...
"There was a lot of poison going on around there and I'm really disappointed because we had a good thing going. It was a good thing and I think people's egos got in the way. Well, not people just Javier, his ego got in the way, and too many cameras in the gym and him trying to build himself up and his brand, his AKA brand...
