Highly recognizable WEC bantamweight Scott Jorgensen may be just one fight away from a title shot, according to a report from MMAWeekly.com.
Jorgensen has been a very visible presence on WEC cards for the last two years, managing to bring his fights to the televised broadcast even when he was on the preliminary card. He's now riding a four fight win streak after avenging one of his three career losses this past April.
He's now set to face off against British fighter Brad Pickett on the WEC 50 main card next month. An impressive win for Jorgensen in that fight puts him right in the mix, according to WEC General Manager Reed Harris.
Jorgensen is managed by Mike Roberts of MMA Inc. That management company also has current Bantamweight Title challenger Joseph Benavidez under contract. If both fighters win at WEC 50, there won't be any issues with two affiliated fighters facing off.
If it is Joseph, then, God willing we hope that it is, they will fight each other," said Roberts to MMAWeekly. "Scott Jorgensen's a gamer. All the 'I don't want to fight this guy, I don't want to fight that guy' doesn't really apply to him. When he says 'it's not that I want to fight him' he's just a gamer. If you've got that strap or you're in the way of that strap, he's coming for you."
"It doesn't matter if you were his best friend or not. If you've got that strap, or you're in front of that strap, he's going to go through you to get it."
Penick's Analysis: I'm a big fan of Jorgensen, and this is a great fight for this WEC 50 card between him and Pickett. If he gets a fifth straight win he should absolutely get the shot against the Cruz-Benavidez winner. Whichever fighter comes out of that title bout there remains a lot of really exciting fights in the bantamweight division in the WEC.

"There's still a large contingent of people, that they just want to see these guys almost die, or the other guy almost die and come back, and sometimes fights are like that. Certainly they are. But sometimes you get technical masterpieces too, and to hate a beautiful, technical fight - you're not really a fight fan...
