Former WEC Bantamweight Champion Miguel Angel Torres will look to stop a two fight losing streak this September, as multiple published reports state he's slated to meet Charlie Valencia at WEC 51 in September.
Torres was the longtime king of the bantamweight division, winning 17 straight fights before his shocking knockout loss to Brian Bowles in August of 2009. He returned to action this March, but suffered another setback when Joseph Benavidez dominated him, opening a huge cut before forcing him to submit to a guillotine choke.
Valencia has won three straight fights, all by decision against Akitoshi Tamura, Coty Wheeler and Seth Dikun. He had been scheduled to return last month against Eddie Wineland before suffering an injury that forced him out of the event.
WEC 51 is expected to take place from the 1STBANK Center in Broomfield, Colo., on September 30.
Penick's Analysis: This is a good bounce back fight for Torres. Valencia's a tough fighter, but he's not on the level of Bowles, Benavidez and Torres just yet. This is an absolute must win for the former Champion to get himself back towards title contention. If he can pick up this win, and if Urijah Faber isn't held out too much longer and can get a win in his next fight, that would be an excellent super fight to put together in the bantamweight division in early 2011.

"There's still a large contingent of people, that they just want to see these guys almost die, or the other guy almost die and come back, and sometimes fights are like that. Certainly they are. But sometimes you get technical masterpieces too, and to hate a beautiful, technical fight - you're not really a fight fan...
