The August return to Versus for the WEC continues to fill out, as separate reports from MMAJunkie.com have revealed two more bouts for the WEC 50 card.
In addition to the previously reported Bantamweight Championship bout between Dominick Cruz and Joseph Benavidez, as well as Urijah Faber's WEC bantamweight debut against Takeya Mizugaki, two lightweight bouts are on tap for the card.
Anthony Pettis and Shane Roller, both coming off of submission victories on the April WEC 48 pay-per-view event, will face off against one another, while multi-time WEC veteran Bart Palaszewski will meet Zach Micklewright on the card.
Pettis has three stoppage victories in four appearances in the WEC, his sole loss coming by split decision to Palaszewski. His most recent victory was an impressive second round submission over former UFC veteran Alex Karalexis.
Roller picked up his fourth straight victory, and perhaps most impressive to date, over Anthony Njokuani on the April card, picking up a rear naked choke victory in the first round.
Palaszewski is riding a three fight win streak, two of which came in the WEC. After defeating Pettis, he earned a decision victory in March over Karen Darabedyan.
Micklewright, meanwhile, made his WEC debut at WEC 45, defeating Muhsin Corbbrey by decision. He is now a perfect 10-0 in his MMA career.
WEC 50 is expected to take place from The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada, on August 18.
Penick's Analysis: Both of these are good fights for this card, but I'm especially excited for the battle between Roller and Pettis. Both have been very impressive in their recent fights, and have not only put together some wins but they've been extremely exciting as well. This is a great main card fight for Versus that really helps to make this show a "can't miss" event along with the two major bantamweight fights.
