An already stacked card for the WEC's first event on pay-per-view has added another excellent bantamweight bout, as Sherdog.com reports Scott Jorgensen and Antonio Banuelos will meet for the second time as the opener to the night's pay-per-view card.
The two faced off last June at WEC 41: Brown vs. Faber II in a fight that saw Banuelos earn a razor thin split decision that many had going the way of Jorgensen. Since then Banuelos has picked up another decision victory in the WEC, this one over Kenji Osawa at WEC 44.
Jorgensen, meanwhile, has gone on a three fight win streak since that fight. In his most recent outing, earlier this month at WEC 47, the 27 year old choked out Chad George with a standing guillotine just 31 seconds into the first round, lifting him up off the ground and against the cage.
WEC 48 comes live on pay-per-view on April 24th, headlined by a Featherweight Title bout between Urijah Faber and Jose Aldo.
Penick's Analysis: This is a great rematch and a chance for Jorgensen to get back the win I thought should have been his last June. Their first bout was an extremely fast paced and exciting three round fight and this rematch should be no different. With so many great fights already on this card that we may not see, I'm still holding out hope that the WEC runs a number of the preliminary card fights on Versus so some of those other fights can be seen by as many fans as possible.

UPDATE: The original article mistakenly stated this fight would be on the preliminary card, it will in fact be the pay-per-view opener.

"There's still a large contingent of people, that they just want to see these guys almost die, or the other guy almost die and come back, and sometimes fights are like that. Certainly they are. But sometimes you get technical masterpieces too, and to hate a beautiful, technical fight - you're not really a fight fan...

"There was a lot of poison going on around there and I'm really disappointed because we had a good thing going. It was a good thing and I think people's egos got in the way. Well, not people just Javier, his ego got in the way, and too many cameras in the gym and him trying to build himself up and his brand, his AKA brand...
