The Ohio Athletic Commission released the disclosed payroll for Saturday's WEC 47 event on Monday, and while there was a Title fight within the bantamweight division in the main event on the card, the top earners were in the co-main event bantamweight bout between Joseph Benavidez and Miguel Torres. Benavidez himself took home the most in disclosed money for the event, earning $29,000 for his shocking submission victory over Torres. The total disclosed payroll for the event was $236,500. Full fighter payouts are below:
Neither Leonard Garcia or George Roop received a win bonus with their bout ending in a split draw
Penick's Analysis: It doesn't matter that Bowles v. Cruz was a Championship bout, it was clear coming in that Torres was the biggest star for the show. The surprising thing, however, is seeing that despite beating Benavidez, Cruz is still on a lower paygrade. It's the terms of each contract that are different, of course, but he should be due for some type of pay bump with the belt around his waist. There's likely more on the undisclosed revenue coming his way, as these numbers don't always reflect accurate earnings for the fighters on the top of cards.
