WEC NEWS: Bart Palaszewski-Zach Micklewright bout promoted to WEC 50 main card

With Urijah Faber's injury pushing his scheduled WEC 50 bout with Takeya Mizugaki to the fall, a spot was opened on the main televised card of the August 18 event.

The organization has now promoted a lightweight bout between Bart Palaszewski and Zach Micklewright to that slot.

Micklewright pushed his perfect record to 10-0 in his WEC debut against Muhsin Corbbrey. He was initially set to return in April on the WEC's first pay-per-view event, but suffered a broken ankle in March that pushed him back.

Palaszewski is riding a three fight win streak, two of them in the WEC, after a 1-2 stint his first time in the WEC. He most recently submitted Karen Darabedyan at WEC 47.

WEC 50 airs live on Versus on August 18 from The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada, headlined by a WEC Bantamweight Title bout between Dominick Cruz and Joseph Benavidez.

Penick's Analysis: This fight made sense to put on the main card with the loss of Faber-Mizugaki, so it's no surprise to see it get promoted. It should be a very entertaining lightweight fight, and this Versus event as a whole should be excellent.
