=====Fox Sports 1 Main Card=====

After a really poor night of prelim fights - save Iuri Alcantara vs. Wilson Reis - here's hoping the main card provides something a bit different. The FS1 broadcast opened up in the studio with a quick breakdown of the night before sending to Jon Anik and Kenny Florian cageside. We start tonight in the featherweight division.

FIGHT ONE: CHARLES OLIVEIRA VS. ANDY OGLE (FEATHERWEIGHTS)

ROUND ONE: Ogle came out aggressive and scored a few strikes. He countered one from Oliveira, but Oliveira then quickly scored a takedown and moved to mount. Ogle tried to escape, but Oliveira controlled, then took his back as Ogle tried to stand. He locked on a body triangle as Ogle stood. Ogle defended the choke attempts as Oliveira stayed busy. Oliveira pulled him back to the ground. Ogle continued defending as Oliveira tried to work from back mount. Ogle continued to defend as Oliveira tried to find an opening in transition. Oliveira rolled and lost a hook, but he got it right back. Ogle continued defending down the stretch and made it out of the round.

Penick's Scorecard: 10-9 Oliveira. Well, it was better then 95% of the prelims, but the stalemate of Ogle defending Oliveira's ground attacks won't hold the audience's attention through three.

ROUND TWO: They exchange strikes early before Oliveira shot in. Ogle held it off. He didn't hold off the second one, but he did manage to reverse and wind up on top. Ogle eventually stood and let Oliveira up. Oliveira shot in again and scored a takedown. Ogle scooted back to the cage and worked to his feet, eating a knee to the body on the way up. Oliveira shot in and in a scramble Oliveira locked on a D'Arce choke and dropped. He lost the hold and tried to reestablish it, but Ogle shrugged out and in a scramble they stood again. Ogle clinched and landed a foot stomp. Ogle then picked Oliveira up and slammed him. Oliveira attacked from his back as Ogle didn't do much offensively. He threw down a left hand and ate a punch. Ogle passed and Oliveira scrambled to his feet. He landed a knee then took Ogle's back and dragged him down.

Penick's Scorecard: 10-9 Oliveira. Ogle's making this a fight a bit, but Oliveira's clearly the better fighter of the two. Seems to be fighting down a bit in this one.

ROUND THREE: Oliveira knocked Ogle down early, but as he tried to follow up with a choke on the ground he lost position. They both stood up and Ogle tried to clinch. Oliveira tried to grab a guillotine and wound up on his back as he lost the hold. Ogle was cut open. Oliveira pushed him off and got to his feet. Oliveira landed a straight kick to the face. Oliveira landed a body kick. They got in close and Oliveira tried for a throw. Ogle scrambled and wound up on top. Ogle postured up and landed a right. Oliveira tried to kick him off. Oliveira locked on a triangle choke out of nowhere and Ogle was forced to tap! There's the first finish of the night.

WINNER: Oliveira via submission (triangle choke) at 2:40 of the third round

STAR RATING: (**) Impressive defense from Andy Ogle in the first round, but Oliveira was just the better fighter from start to finish. Ogle got top position a few times, but that was clearly not an advantageous position for him given that fantastic finish.

FIGHT TWO: VISCARDI ANDRADE VS. NICO MUSOKE (WELTERWEIGHT)

ROUND ONE: Musoke landed a nice right hand in the first exchange. Andrade swung heavy but was blocked. Musoke is huge compared to Andrade. They traded punches. Musoke landed a right in an exchange. Musoke connected on a few strikes. They traded strikes in the clinch. Musoke got in a knee before the horn.

Penick's Scorecard: 10-9 Andrade. His hesitation could have cost him, because Musoke was hurt, but not out. It gave Musoke just enough time to recover in order to defend himself once Andrade engaged on the ground.

ROUND TWO: Musoke cut off the cage early. Andrade went back to the overhand right but it was blocked and Musoke closed distance with a clinch. He briefly dragged Andrade down, then stayed on his back as Andrade popped up. Musoke landed a knee to the head as he continued working in the clinch. They traded body strikes with punches and knees. Penick's Scorecard: 10-9 Musoke. Yet another decision on the card, but Musoke should easily take it here. Andrade defended well, but couldn't do much else.

WINNER: Musoke via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

STAR RATING: (**-) Nice survival instincts from Musoke in the first, and he controlled from then on, but it wasn't a great fight by any means.

-We get a preview of Ronda Rousey-Sara McMann with further comments on next week's UFC 170 before moving on to the next fight.

FIGHT THREE: ERICK SILVA VS. TAKENORI SATO (WELTERWEIGHT)

ROUND ONE: Silva stalked Sato early. He landed a hard body kick and Sato was hurt. He shot in for a single. Silva threw a heel behind his leg to the head as Sato held onto the leg! That's new. He rained down hammerfists and Sato was done. Just what Silva needed, and what the UFC expected when they booked this fight.

WINNER: Silva via KO at :52 of the first round

STAR RATING: (*+) There wasn't anything to that fight. Sato's Japan run doesn't mean a thing against even top 30 competition right now, and Silva is extremely dangerous. He was above Sato's level, the UFC knew he was above Sato's level, and they got the squash match they were hoping for here.

FIGHT FOUR: RONALDO "JACARE" SOUZA VS. FRANCIS CARMONT (MIDDLEWEIGHT)

ROUND ONE: Carmont threw a straight kick to the body to start things off. Both were a bit hesitant to engage right off the bat. Both threw out a lot of feints, trying to get a reaction. Carmont circled away and blocked a spinning attempt. Souza got in close and then just dragged Carmont to the ground and took his back. He locked on the body lock and tried to open Carmont up to attack for a choke. Souza tried to rip through the choke attempt, then turned him over to work from a different angle. He pulled him back down and tried to lock the choke in as Carmont defended. Souza got the choke under the chin with one arm and tried to finish it that way. He nearly finished that choke with only one arm, but Carmont escaped. Carmont tried to throw some punches behind him. Souza landed a couple of strikes. Carmont got turned around at the horn.

Penick's Scorecard: 10-9 Souza. Carmont had enough defensive aptitude to avoid the rear naked choke, something we've already seen tonight in the Oliveira-Ogle fight. Souza may have to look towards a different technique moving forward.

ROUND TWO: Souza blocked some early strikes, then landed a couple of hard ones of his own before a brief clinch. He backed off and they went back to the stand off. Carmont threw a leg kick that was checked. Souza tried to walk Carmont down and barely missed an overhand right. He tried to chase him down with a few strikes that didn't find their mark. Penick's Scorecard: 10-9 Souza. Weird round, but I think Souza had a little more success on the whole. Carmont connected a bit in the late part of the round, but Souza did a little more overall.

ROUND THREE: Souza landed some body shots early as he had Carmont backing up and circling the cage. Souza shot in and scored the takedown right into mount. Souza got his arm over, but Carmont got his chin down to block the choke. Carmont tried to scramble out, but Souza kept control. Souza grabbed a headlock and held that as the round ended.

Penick's Scorecard: 10-9 Souza. Another clear, controlling round, and even if Carmont got the second he's losing this fight. A little disappointing from Jacare overall, but Carmont proved a tough fighter to put away.

WINNER: Souza via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27)

STAR RATING: (**-) Stalemate action on the ground made it less than exciting at times, but Jacare still almost pulled off the finish a couple of times. Carmont's tough, no question, and he gets credit for surviving 9 minutes with Jacare on his back, but he didn't have much else to offer in this one.

MAIN EVENT FIGHT FIVE: LYOTO MACHIDA VS. GEGARD MOUSASI (MIDDLEWEIGHT)

Penick's Scorecard: 10-9 Machida. Round went very much as expected. Very tentative, with both feeling out the range and reaction of the other, and things should pick up as the fight progresses.

ROUND TWO: Machida opened up with a body kick. Machida landed an inside leg kick as he continued circling on the outside. Machida popped in with a left. Mousasi threw out an inside leg kick. Mousasi got in a leg kick to end the round.

Penick's Scorecard: 10-9 Machida. He got in more damage overall, but Mousasi found his range a bit near the end of the round. Things are certainly gearing up here into the middle round.

ROUND THREE: Mousasi came straight ahead and tried to go on the attack. He landed a solid left hook as Machida circled out. Machida landed a body kick. He shot in but Machida stuffed it quickly. Mousasi barely issed a winging left hand. They stood off as the round ended.

Penick's Scorecard: 10-9 Machida. Mousasi just doesn't have much output overall. He's connected a few times, but well behind Machida's pace, and now he's way down into these final two rounds.

ROUND FOUR: Mousasi shot in early in the first minute and got Machida down, but Machida quickly scrambled to his feet. Machida landed a strike in close and avoided the counter. Mousasi got in a couple of strikes to the body. Machida landed a left and bobbed his head away from the return. They traded kicks. Machida turned and Mousasi tried to take his back. Mousasi slipped off and wound up on his back. Machida put a knee down and Mousasi hit him with an upkick. Ok, Yamasaki took a point for an accidental low blow, but not for a blatantly illegal upkick? Consistency! They restart and the horn sounds.

Penick's Scorecard: 10-9 Machida. Mousasi had some offense, but it wasn't enough to take the frame.

ROUND FIVE: Machida was a bit more aggressive early on, even though Mousasi was blocking much of it. Mousasi's got just minutes to do something here. Mousasi scrambled out and flopped to his back as Machida stood up. Machida then dropped in with a final big right hand before the horn.

Penick's Scorecard: 10-9 Machida. He was just better than Mousasi tonight, start to finish. Technical, chess-match like fight, and not everyone's favorite to watch, but it was a really solid matchup, and the best of the once again ten decisions tonight.

WINNER: Machida via unanimous decision (49-46, 50-45, 50-45)

STAR RATING: (***-) I really enjoyed that fight. It started as expected, both opened up a bit in the second, we got some ground work and some serious offense in, and it was just a chess-match between two elite fighters. Mousasi wasn't better than Machida tonight, but he had a few moments. Machida defeated a very tough guy and picked up another huge win.

Thanks for joining us tonight! We'll have reactions and more to this event throughout the week, and we'll turn our attention to UFC 170 next weekend in Las Vegas!
