Another featherweight fight has been added to the UFC on Versus 5 card in Milwaukee this August, as the organization announced on Wednesday morning that Alex "Bruce Leroy" Caceres will meet Leonard Garcia on the card.
Cacares, a competitor on The Ultimate Fighter 12, made his official UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 24 in March, where he was handily defeated by Mackens Semerzier in the first round of their fight. It was the third submission loss in his seven-fight career, and his UFC stint could be short should fall against Garcia.
Garcia is also at risk of release from the organization after a twister submission loss to Chan Sung Jung on that same Fight Night 24 card. Prior to that loss, Garcia had gone 3-3-1 in his past seven fights, with all three of his victories coming by split decisions in fights many feel he should have lost.
UFC on Versus 5 takes place from the Bradley Center in Milwaukee on August 14, and marks the UFC's first-ever trip to the state of Wisconsin.
Penick's Analysis: This probably won't be the prettiest fight, but the UFC is putting it together to trim the fat a bit from their roster. The loser of this fight will most assuredly find themselves released from the organization, and in that respect it's an extremely meaningful fight for both fighters, but it's not a thrilling matchup on the surface.
