The return of Brock Lesnar's issue with diverticulitis caught everyone off guard this week, taking him out of his UFC 131 headlining fight with Junior Dos Santos and plugging in his UFC 116 foe Shane Carwin.

The former UFC Heavyweight Champion has vowed that pulling out of this fight and battling this illness once again does not mean it will be the end of his career. Though there are more than enough naysayers, there is one man who believes Lesnar will come back stronger than ever, and that's the man that took his title, Cain Velasquez.

"It sucks, but it happens in this sport," Velasquez said in comments made to MMAFighting.com. "People get hurt all the time and pull out of fights. But he'll come back, and he'll come back stronger. It sucks right now, but we already have somebody tough coming up with Shane (replacing him)..."

"(Lesnar is) the type of guy that will always come back stronger. You go back, look at the film, see what you did wrong and go back and work on it. But I've always thought about both (Lesnar and Carwin)."

Velasquez believes the UFC made the right move in putting Carwin in for Lesnar next month, and he sees the fight taking a different tone than the original matchup would have provided.

"I think [they made the right call], yeah," Velasquez said. "He was next in line, for sure. He's a tough guy. I think it was a good call."

"Before [with Lesnar-Dos Santos], it was wrestler vs. striker. Now it's striker vs. striker – but they're different. I think dos Santos is more technical and hits hard, but Carwin is a really hard puncher. You can't pound him out. So it's two hard hitters."

Those two hard hitters will do battle on June 11, and the winner will then meet Velasquez when the Champion is ready to return this fall.

Penick's Analysis: I'm firmly of the belief that Lesnar will be back and that he will fight again. He's got a competitive drive in him that will bring him back into the fold once he's able to get this issue dealt with. Velasquez knows he defeated a tough opponent to take the belt, even if he made it look easy, and now he knows he'll still be facing a dangerous opponent regardless of who leaves Vancouver the victor next month. Either matchup will make for an excellent title fight in October, and both are fights I can't wait to see.
