Vitor Belfort isn't the only one who wants a piece of Michael Bisping after UFC 127.
Chael Sonnen has requested a bout against the Brit winner of The Ultimate Fighter season three, who won his third straight bout this Saturday in Australia with a second round TKO over Jorge Rivera. A report from MMAWeekly.com posted an email that Sonnen sent to UFC matchmaker Joe Silva. Check it out:
"To: Joe Silva, Matchmaker Extraordinaire, Ultimate Fighting Championship
Re: Spitsbing & his tainted victory
Joe:
If you get a chance to talk with him, please mention to your idiot-in-residence Michael Spitsbing it'll be a little tougher to knee ME in the head when I'm charging at him like a runaway train and mincing him through the fence like a boiled potato, should we ever have the pleasure of each other's company for a few (VERY few) moments in the Octagon.
Oh; and I'd suggest to him being a little careful about spitting on any of MY cornermen, since any one of them can beat him up as badly as I can. Thanks ever so much.
Hope all is well.
-Chael Sonnen"
Of course, Sonnen has been on the sidelines since his loss to Anderson Silva last August, the suspension that followed for a failed drug test, and a mutually frozen contract after pleading guilty to money laundering charges in Oregon. Sonnen awaits charges from that plea deal in March, and it's expected that once that situation is behind him he'll return to the Octagon.
Penick's Analysis: Well, that email is certainly vintage Chael Sonnen. A fight for Bisping against either Sonnen or Vitor would make a lot of sense, but if Bisping was upset by the things Jorge Rivera said to him, then he'll be irate in a bout against Sonnen. That bout would pit two fairly unlikeable characters against one another, but it would probably draw a lot of eyeballs to see which fighter shuts the other one up. It's probably the best idea right now if they're going to bring Sonnen back anytime soon, and that could provide an immensely interesting buildup to that fight.
