"[James Toney] ain't doing nothing. He's not going to do anything. Just like everybody who's a journalist of MMA, a practitioner, a coach, or a fan, they'll tell you, it's got to be a one-punch victory and that's it. If he gets pushed up against the cage, he's going down on the ground. If they go down, he ain't getting back up. Randy's not going to let that happen... It's just different, like saying a professional basketball player is going to put a mitt on and play professional baseball. It's a different sport. It's so different. I remember when I was a boxer, I remember the things I thought. 'Oh, if you're going to shoot, I'll uppercut you.' Like it's that easy. You really think that, until you get in there... I called Randy, I talked to Randy about it, and I said, 'You know what? The worst thing about this fight is that everybody wants to talk to me about it because of my boxing background. And I said, 'Prove me right. Just go out there and prove me right.' And he said, 'I will.'"
-UFC welterweight Marcus Davis, a former professional boxer in his own right, talks to MMAFighting.com about James Toney's chances against Randy Couture at UFC 118 on Saturday night.
Penick's Analysis: Like Davis laid out, he learned his lesson in MMA the hard way, and Toney's making the transition against a much higher level of competition than Davis did at the outset of his MMA career. It's a good point to keep in mind, that Toney could be thinking it's going to be an easy transition for him here and that he'll be fully prepared, but once he steps into the cage on Saturday night at the TD Garden in Boston, Mass., it's going to be a completely different story.

"There's still a large contingent of people, that they just want to see these guys almost die, or the other guy almost die and come back, and sometimes fights are like that. Certainly they are. But sometimes you get technical masterpieces too, and to hate a beautiful, technical fight - you're not really a fight fan...
Diaz has a granite chin, possesses perhaps the best recovery in the sport, his pace and conditioning are second to none and he sets records with the volume of his punches almost every time he steps into the cage. Nick Diaz is simply designed to fight the way he fights, and not many other fighters are...
"There was a lot of poison going on around there and I'm really disappointed because we had a good thing going. It was a good thing and I think people's egos got in the way. Well, not people just Javier, his ego got in the way, and too many cameras in the gym and him trying to build himself up and his brand, his AKA brand...
