With UFC 116 behind them, the UFC is moving forward to fill up some of their upcoming fight cards, and MMAJunkie.com reports on two more fights coming to London in October at UFC 120.
First up is a lightweight bout between Spencer Fisher and UFC newcomer Kurt Warburton. MMAJunkie reports that Fisher has signed a four fight contract extension with the UFC, despite coming off of two straight losses, and this will be the first fight on that deal.
Warburton is a 6-1 fighter out of the UK's Wolfslair Academy, home to Michael Bisping and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson. He's got four knockout victories on his record and only one has gone the distance.
The next fight coming to the card features two more newcomers to the UFC roster, this time in the heavyweight division.
Vinicius Kappke de Quieroz, a 5-1 Brazilian heavyweight from the Chute Boxe team, will face off against Rob Broughton, another Wolfslair product with a 14-5-1 record.
Kappke de Quieroz is a 6'7", 240 lb. Brazilian jiu-jitsu brown belt and Muay Thai black belt, and all of his wins have come by knockout in the first round. His sole loss came in his second fight three years ago.
Broughton is a veteran of the UK's Cage Rage promotion, as well as of M-1, and has won six of his last seven fights, including four straight.
UFC 120 is expected to take place from London's O2 Arena on October 16, airing in the US via tape delay on Spike TV.
Penick's Analysis: Both of these are solid matchups, though the debut of Kappke de Quieroz is the most interesting. A 6'7", 240 lb. fighter with his grappling background and knockout ability could make for an extremely exciting addition to the UFC's heavyweight roster. I'm a little surprised Fisher got a four fight extension after consecutive losses, but "The King" is a talented and exciting fighter who can certainly rebound. He'll need to do just that to avoid being dropped after one fight on this new deal.
