UFC 119 could have its main event, and it's a massive one.
According to a report from MMAJunkie.com's Dan Stupp, both Brock Lesnar and Shane Carwin were told by UFC officials that the winner would be tentatively slated to meet Cain Velasquez in the main event.
UFC 119 is expected to take place from the Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana on September 25, the UFC's first trip to the state.
Now the question sits on whether or not Lesnar is able to make a quick turnaround after the 57 punches he took from Carwin in the first round of their bout on Saturday. After surviving the onslaught, he submitted his fatigued opponent in the second with an arm triangle choke.
Health permitting, this would make for a big main event for the UFC's first trip to Indianapolis for a card that has no real drawing fight at this point. After two massively stacked card in August, this could be the only real "main event" bout that would work on pay-per-view.
Penick's Analysis: MMA fans will be shelling out a lot of money for their pay-per-view bills in August and September, because if this fight gets put on UFC 119 that becomes the third straight "can't miss" event. Lesnar is likely to have pulled a million pay-per-view buys for this past weekend's event essentially by himself, and there's a possibility that Quinton "Rampage" Jackson returns on this card as well.
If Brock and Rampage, the two fighters both involved in million buy pay-per-view events separately, are on the same card, it's a guaranteed million buys once again, and would continue a massive string of business that the UFC is currently experiencing.
I hope Lesnar's able to go again that quickly, because this fight with Cain Velasquez is an awesome one, and it will have kept Cain out of action for only 7 months, which is not all that bad. If his injuries are not severe and he can get right back into training camp, Indianapolis fans are in for a hell of an event.
