A welterweight bout between Carlos Condit and "The Outlaw" Dan Hardy is coming to the U.K. this October at UFC 120, according to a report from MMAWeekly.com.
The bout will be Hardy's first since losing to UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre at UFC 111 in March. He had gone 4-0 in the UFC heading into his title shot, but he was no match for the wrestling ability of St. Pierre, who took him down repeatedly, nearly locking on a couple of submissions during the fight and taking a clear decision.
Condit has now won two straight bouts after losing his UFC debut to Martin Kampmann in April of 2009. His most recent bout saw him battle back from two rounds down against Rory MacDonald at UFC 115 to put on a beating to his 20 year old opponent in the third, forcing a stoppage with seconds left in the fight. It was a fantastic fight and a big win for Condit.
UFC 120 is set to be the UFC's return to London, England for the first time since UFC 95 in February of 2009. It also marks the UFC's first event in the U.K. since November of last year.
Penick's Analysis: This is a fantastic welterweight fight. I also wouldn't have minded seeing Hardy against Martin Kampmann, but Condit's a very solid fighter and despite Hardy's previous 4-0 streak in the UFC is not an easy fight in the least. This will be a highly competitive and entertaining fight for the U.K. crowd, and if Condit can pull off the win he'll definitely make a big leap up the ladder in the division. He's still quite a few wins away from a title fight, but he can still be a big force at 170 lbs.
