"I'm not [Diego Sanchez's] manager, but I think he should stay at [lightweight]. Listen, a loss to B.J. Penn doesn't mean you go back up to 170 lb. It means you stay at 155 lb, and you do what Kenny Florian did. You stay in there and you keep grinding it out and keep beating the top guys, and you get back in line and work your way back up to the top again. Diego does not look good at 170 lb."
-Dana White discusses Diego Sanchez's loss to John Hathaway and how it was the wrong move to go up to welterweight after his loss to B.J. Penn.
Penick's Analysis: Diego was beaten to the punch by a taller fighter with a longer reach, and he was unable to utilize his wrestling because of some very impressive takedown defense from Hathaway. I'm not completely sure if it says more about Diego than it does about Hathaway at this point, and I can't completely write off Sanchez at 170 lb., but there's definitely a part of me that sides with Dana's stance. He didn't look great in this one, and after two demoralizing losses in a row, and the first two fights in which he's really been hurt or beat up in the UFC, I'm not sure where he goes from here. He's not ever going to beat B.J. Penn, so I don't know what he's going to do next.
