It just won't end. Gabriel Gonzaga has staph infection according to a report from Steve Cofield at Yahoo! Sports citing UFC President Dana White, making his bout with Junior Dos Santos at UFC 108 the latest casualty in a string of injuries and illness for the UFC.
The two were set to be the co-main event at the January 2nd event, which has already been depleted by multiple injuries and features the original co-main event as it's headliner in Rashad Evans vs. Thiago Silva.
This is the third major heavyweight bout to be canceled or postponed this month, following Brock Lesnar's much publicized battle with illness and Antonio Nogueira's second bout with staph infection himself in the last year knocking out their respective scheduled bouts.
Penick's Analysis: This just sucks. UFC 108 went from having one of the best on-paper cards in UFC history to the top three bouts being Evans vs. Thiago, Tyson Griffin vs. Jim Miller and Carlos Condit vs. Paul Daley. Now those are three solid fights, but not for the top end of a pay-per-view event. The heavyweight division is just getting ravaged from top to bottom, at least for the short term, so it looks like it won't just be the Championship that is held up.

The headlining bout between Phil Davis and Rashad Evans averaged 6.1 million viewers, meaning the peak number for the event will still come in somewhat higher than that. The opening bout between Demian Maia and Chris Weidman was seen by an average of four million viewers...
I am very nervous that Carlos Condit will win on Saturday night, and that I won't be able to fight Nick Diaz this summer. Carlos Condit is a very good fighter, he can strike, he is aggressive and he has submissions...
Georges St-Pierre is the only logical choice for Sonnen, since he's made it clear to the world at large that Anderson Silva wants nothing to do with him. And since everything that comes out of Chael's mouth when hyping a fight can be taken as gospel...
