ULTIMATE FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIP® AND AMERICAN MEDIA INC. TO LAUNCH UFC® MAGAZINE
Las Vegas, NV (USA) –August 28, 2009….. The sport that changed fighting forever, UFC®, announced today a two-year agreement with American Media, Inc., to launch a new bi-monthly magazine, titled UFC, scheduled to hit newsstands in November 2009.
Zuffa, LLC d/b/a Ultimate Fighting Championship® and AMI produced a special commemorative issue for UFC 100 that outperformed all expectations from advertiser reception to newsstand sales. Inaugural advertisers included Bud Light, Ford Mustang, General Cigars , Hard Rock Hotel, Harley-Davidson, HBO, JVC, Lugz, Tapout, THQ, Tiger Schulman, Topp's and Wahl.
“American Media and UFC produced a commemorative magazine for UFC 100, it was a huge success and our fans told us they wanted more,” said UFC President Dana White. “With AMI as our partner, we are going to make UFC Magazine available on a regular basis and give fight fans the exclusive stories, photos and experience they can’t get anywhere else.”
“We’ve kept a close eye on the UFC brand since it came onto on our radar. UFC’s TV programming has amazing ratings, a track record of selling out venues and they are the biggest pay-per-view event provider in the world. Based on that it didn’t surprise us they could sell magazines and so it was only logical we’d want to be in business with Dana and his team,” said David Pecker, AMI’s CEO.

Penick's Analysis: The commemorative magazine for UFC 100 was an entertaining read with some good features. A bi-monthly release could provide a wealth of pictures and features all together that could make for an entertaining read and a worthwhile magazine. Not to mention it'll be a huge source of extra ad revenue so it works great for the UFC business-wise.

I am very nervous that Carlos Condit will win on Saturday night, and that I won't be able to fight Nick Diaz this summer. Carlos Condit is a very good fighter, he can strike, he is aggressive and he has submissions...
Georges St-Pierre is the only logical choice for Sonnen, since he's made it clear to the world at large that Anderson Silva wants nothing to do with him. And since everything that comes out of Chael's mouth when hyping a fight can be taken as gospel...
