Former Bellator Welterweight Champion Ben Askren has long been a critic of former UFC Champ Johny Hendricks, so it was no surprise at all Friday morning when he had something to say about Hendricks needing to be scratched from UFC 192.
Reacting in a string of comments on Twitter, Askren took shots at Hendricks over a lack of professionalism and discipline.
Penick's Analysis: Hendricks left himself open to any and all criticism over this, because it's not the first time he's had issues with his weight. And letting himself get out of peak shape in between fights is something that is just unacceptable for someone who wants to be the top fighter in their division. As he said earlier in the day, he has to figure out whether a middleweight move is necessary, and it might be. For now, though, Askren and any other detractors have been given nothing but ammo against him.
