The UFC is sticking with their plan to feature Joanna Jedrzejczyk under Ronda Rousey, as she'll defend her UFC Women's Strawweight Championship against Valerie Letourneau at UFC 193 in Australia.
The fight was announced during the UFC's "Go Big" launch event from Las Vegas on Friday afternoon.
Jedrzejczyk captured the title in March from Carla Esparza, stopping her in the second round. She added another stoppage victory in her first title defense in June, taking out Jessica Penne in the third round at UFC Fight Night 69 from Germany.
Now she'll defend that title against Letourneau, who steps in front of Claudia Gadelha, who is targeting a December or January return to action. Letourneau is riding a four-fight winning streak overall, with the last three all coming in the UFC. In her most recent appearance, she scored an upset win over Maryna Moroz, who herself had upset a top contender in Joanne Calderwood earlier in the year.
The Jedrzejczyk-Letourneau fight will serve as the co-main event for UFC 193, which comes to Etihad Stadium in Melbourne on Nov. 15. The event airs live with the time delay in the U.S. on pay-per-view on Saturday, Nov. 14, and will be headlined by Rousey's latest title defense against Holly Holm.
