"At that time, and I still have a lot of respect for Frank, at that time, he was just dangerous on the ground because he is a black belt. Now he wants to fight and he fights very dangerous standing, so I have to keep in mind also he is not only a black belt and also has the power to knock people out. So I have to be ready for this as well... It is going to be an honor to fight Frank because I am extremely happy for him. Frank and I, we're like old school fighters. He is climbing back on the top right now, I'm number four, and I'm very excited for that fight and I'm sure the fans are too. It's an honor to face Frank in the co-main event at UFC 191 in Vegas."
-During a media conference call for Saturday's UFC 191 event, Andrei Arlovski talks about why Frank Mir is a more dangerous opponent now than he would have been had they fought in 2005 (transcribed by MMAMania.com).
Penick's Analysis: Mir is certainly more well rounded, and he's got a lot more weapons than he did a decade ago. He's also taken a lot of damage since that time, and could be more susceptible to Arlovski's heavy strikes than he would have been a decade ago, so that thinking can work both ways here. Still, it's a fair statement to make, and the right thing for him to keep in mind in approaching this matchup. Mir has ways to end fights everywhere, and though Arlovski's striking game may yet win out, Mir's shown plenty of stopping power himself, so this could be another hard-hitting, exciting heavyweight fight on Saturday on pay-per-view.
