"It's obviously disappointing. This is something that I have been through before and it's really just the nature of the sport... At this point, no, I'm not fighting on the same card, and no, I have not been offered any other opponents. Another opportunity might come my way, and either way, I need to stay in shape – not just in case of an opportunity, but for my sanity. Training is my therapy... We don't really have a timeline at this point on his return, but we'll see. If it's plausible for that to be my next fight, if he heals up in a decent amount of time, of course I'd like to fight him. I was really, really excited for that matchup."
-Carlos Condit reacts to Robbie Lawler's injury taking them off UFC 193, and why he hopes to still get that Title fight in his next bout during an appearance on AXS TV's Inside MMA program (transcribed by MMAJunkie.com).
Penick's Analysis: Given Lawler's thumb injury isn't expected to be too serious or keep him out too long, this is the fight to keep together. If it was good for November it's good for January or February, and though there are others who will feel they should be in that spot - namely the winner of the Tyron Woodley-Johny Hendricks bout from UFC 192 - Condit remains the more exciting option there. Hopefully it's a quick rebound for Lawler from this issue and that can still be put together. We'll find out soon enough of course, but it should be the plan.
