Josh Koscheck's Bellator debut will come this December, with Bellator MMA President Scott Coker revealing on Friday that Koscheck will fight on the Bellator MMA card on Dec. 11 from the Save Mart Center in Fresno, Calif.
No opponent is yet set, but Coker said in an interview with MMAJunkie.com's John Morgan that Koscheck will take part, and they'll look to set up a fight with Paul Daley after that in 2016.
"That's a no brainer," Coker said of that rematch. "For me, we'll build that fight, and maybe next summer we'll promote that fight in London, or maybe we'll do it here or in San Jose or Fresno or wherever. But I knew that by the time that fight happens, it will be built up to the point... it's going to be a big blockbuster for us."
The 37-year-old Koscheck spent ten years in the UFC after his stint on first season of The Ultimate Fighter, challenging once for the UFC Welterweight Championship but ending his run with five straight losses. He fought a short notice bout with Erick Silva earlier this year strictly to finish out his contract, and signed with Bellator earlier this summer.
Penick's Analysis: This card is going to be going head to head with The Ultimate Fighter 21 Finale, and with the UFC bringing Frankie Edgar vs. Chad Mendes that night, Bellator is going to need to try putting something significant together. Josh Koscheck doesn't really fit that bill, but as they're running in Fresno, it's completely appropriate that he's on this card. "Building" towards a fight when one of the competitors has lost five straight doesn't necessarily make all that much sense, but I don't think it ultimately matters, because if they feel the fight's worth making, they'll eventually make it.
