"It seems I'm always one fight away from the title fight. It's funny, I fought Mousasi and that was supposed to be a title eliminator. Then I was going to fight Romero and he got hurt, but a month later he was fighting Lyoto, which I thought was weird. But I'll be ready, I'll do some great work and I'll impress everybody... Both [Luke Rockhold and Chris Weidman] are about the same to me. Rockhold stole my Strikeforce belt, so I still have that stuck in my throat. Weidman has this whole 'Brazilian Killer' thing, which I don't buy. Vinny Magalhaes finished him with a flying armbar and he lost to Andre Galvao at ADCC. And he will lose to me, as well."
-Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza talks to Globo in Brazil about the frustration of remaining out of a title fight, fighting Yoel Romero again at UFC 194, and the main event of that card between Chris Weidman and Luke Rockhold (translated by Lucas Rezende at BloodyElbow.com).
Penick's Analysis: Jacare's just been stuck in this cycle of the wrong fights against the wrong opponents. He's been great in every UFC appearance, but failing to actually get fights like Romero, Machida, or others in that top ten range has meant others have been able to pass him up. It's unfortunate, but that run will finally be over if he beats Romero and can move forward into a fight with the Rockhold-Weidman winner.
