Ronda Rousey's star power is undeniable at this point, and the latest evidence to support that has come in.
According to a report from Dave Meltzer at MMAFighting.com, the latest pay-per-view estimates for UFC 190 are in above 900,000 buys, which make it the highest selling pay-per-view event since UFC 168 in December of 2013 drew over a million buys.
It's also the third UFC event of 2015 to break 800,000 buys, following UFC 182 "Jones vs. Cormier" in January and UFC 189 "McGregor vs. Mendes" in July. Perhaps the most telling piece of these numbers is the fact that the other two events had significantly more promotion and undercard support, with UFC 190 essentially being sold on Rousey herself.
Penick's Analysis: It's a fantastic number for Rousey, and absolutely showcases how much her star has risen. She's bringing in a different audience than the UFC normally brings, and it's by far the biggest number for an event not held in the U.S. I don't know that a fight with Holly Holm will fare better on Jan. 2, but given it's in the U.S., in Las Vegas, and with another women's title fight on the card, it might.
