Urijah Faber wants to return to action this December, but according to Wednesdays UFC Tonight program on Fox Sports 1, he's having trouble finding an opponent.
Faber, who is coaching opposite Conor McGregor on The Ultimate Fighter 21, would like to fight on the Finale event on Dec. 11, or on the UFC 194 card the next night. Unfortunately, there aren't many showing interest in fighting him on either of those cards.
The 36-year-old took his first fight at featherweight since 2010 in May, losing to now-TUF 21 Finale headliner Frankie Edgar. Edgar is facing Faber's teammate Chad Mendes in that night's main event, and he's likely open to fights at either weight class in order to compete. For now, he waits.
Penick's Analysis: Given how good Faber has been over the years, especially in non-title fights, it's not necessarily an enticing matchup for too many. He can be a stepping stone for the right guy if the right guy can move past him, but that's far from a given. Now, it entirely depends on what weight class in which he really wants to fight, because there may be a couple more options available at featherweight now that Edgar and Mendes are set to meet. Of course, at bantamweight things are murkier, and he may simply have to wind up facing someone much further down the rankings than he is.
