Despite several highly derided fights in a row, and a loss in his last outing, Cathal Pendred is getting at least one more fight in the UFC this fall.
According to a report from The Sun newspaper, confirmed by Pendred, the Irish welterweight will fight Tom Breese on the UFC Fight Night card in Dublin on October 24.
Pendred's UFC run began with a stoppage win over Mike King, but he followed that up with a contentious split decision over Gasan Umalatov, and an even less deserved win over Sean Spencer. A poor fight against Augusto Montano led to increased criticism, and he followed that up with his first UFC loss against John Howard at UFC 189.
As for Breese, the 23-year-old Englishman made a successful UFC debut in May, knocking out Luiz Dutra in the first round at UFC Fight Night 67. That win moved his perfect record to 8-0, and he'll hope to follow up with a strong fight in October.
The UFC's return to Dublin airs live on UFC Fight Pass, headlined by the lightweight bout between Ireland's Joseph Duffy and Dustin Poirier.
