Sorry UFC fans in Calgary, despite a previous report stating UFC 194 would be coming to your neck of the woods, the UFC appears to still be targeting that event and that Dec. 5 date for AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
UFC President Dana White confirmed as much during the UFC 190 post-fight press conference, saying they're trying to make the Jose Aldo-Conor McGregor fight happen at the home of the Dallas Cowboys on that date. Additionally, with Ronda Rousey wanting to get on that card as well after her win over Bethe Correia, White said he's open to having her fight there as well.
The UFC's done just one stadium show in their history, bringing 55,000 fans to the Rogers Centre in Toronto for UFC 129 in 2011.
Penick's Analysis: While Ronda's become the type of star who can sell entirely on her own, having her third fight with Miesha Tate (as that's expected next) take place with Aldo-McGregor on top and in a stadium would be massive. If they're going to pull it off, they need some big names, and those two fights would be incredibly compelling in that setting. If they pull it off, it could absolutely rival UFC 100 on pay-per-view, and that's not something said lightly. If they have the right fights on this card - and those two would be a big piece of that - that level of pay-per-view interest may very well be there.
