Less than an hour after she stepped on the scale at UFC 190, "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey and the world learned of the passing of her namesake, pro wrestling legend "Rowdy" Roddy Piper.
In a very brief, but heartfelt, comment shared on Instagram, Rousey vowed to do his name justice when she fights Bethe Correia tonight.
Penick's Analysis: The sad news of Piper's passing had to hit Rousey particularly hard last night. She adopted the "Rowdy" moniker with his permission due to her love of pro wrestling and their shared connection under "Judo" Gene LeBell, and she's said on numerous occasions that he was always one of her favorites. It was a sad night last night, but she'll have to turn it into a celebratory one tonight.
