Takeya Mizugaki is getting back into action this September, as the UFC announced on Thursday that he'll take on George Roop in Japan on Sept. 27.
Mizugaki had won five straight fights into a showdown with Dominick Cruz last September, and had that streak ended violently in just a minute. He followed that up with a submission loss to Aljamain Sterling in April, and needs a win desperately to get back on track.
Roop is 6-8 through two stints in the UFC thus far, and is in need of a win himself after a knockout loss to Rob Font in his last outing. That fight came on July 14 of last year, so he'll be dealing with a 14 month layoff in this bout as well.
The Sept. 27 event will serve as UFC Fight Night 76, and will be headlined by a heavyweight bout between Roy Nelson and Josh Barnett.
