Former UFC Lightweight Champion Benson Henderson has been on the sidelines much of this year due to what's believed to be an eye injury. He's never confirmed the extent of the injury, but he's healing up, and is still targeting a November return to action.
According to a report from Wednesday's UFC Tonight program on Fox Sports 1, Henderson wants to headline the UFC Fight Night event in South Korea on November 28. On top of that, his management has told the UFC he's open to fights at lightweight or welterweight.
Henderson, whose mother is from South Korea, hopped up to 170 lbs. for the first time in February, submitting Brandon Thatch on two weeks notice. He's said he wants to go to welterweight permanently, but he's now apparently open for any fight that brings him to Korea.
Penick's Analysis: There are a ton of options which would be intriguing for Henderson in a five round main event in both weight classes. If he's healthy enough to return by then, and he seems determined to fight on this card, the UFC should oblige; he's been a great fighter for a long time, and if he's ready to make his next push back to the top, fighting in a country that means a great deal to him is a great way to get back into action.
