Eddie Alvarez is taking the high road in his response to Gilbert Melendez's failed drug test out of their fight at UFC 188.
Melendez tested positive for exogenous testosterone metabolites in a fight night drug test, and has been suspended a year for the infraction. Alvarez defeated Melendez in a contentious split decision on the card in Mexico City, and he reacted to the news on Twitter late Monday night.
Penick's Analysis: Classy and fair response from Alvarez. Maybe it'd have been different had he walked away with a loss in that fight, but he was given the win, and has no need to pile on to Melendez at this point. Melendez is placing the blame on a supplement, though taking responsibility for using it in the first place. There's nothing more for Alvarez to do at this point in response, so his reaction here is appropriate.
