UFC Women's Strawweight Champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk was excited last week when her doctor told her surgery would no longer be required on her broken thumb. Unfortunately, that was a premature assessment, and the Champ wound up going under the knife on Thursday.
However, she posted a picture to Instagram from her hospital bed, saying all went well, and she's hoping to return before the end of the year.
Jedrzejczyk successfully defended the title last month, demolishing Jessica Penne at UFC Fight Night 69 in Germany.
Penick's Analysis: The setback is unfortunate, because as was said when it was initially reported that surgery was necessary, I'd just like to see her fighting as often as she's able. She's fascinating in and out of the cage, and hopefully she comes back healthy before the end of the year to continue building herself up in the eyes of the fans.
