Yaotzin Meza has stepped in on short notice to face Sam Sicilia at UFC Fight Night 71, the organization announced this week.
Sicilia needed a new opponent following an injury removal for Doo Ho Choi, and Meza has answered the call on two weeks notice.
Meza made his UFC debut on short notice under less than ideal circumstances, taking on a top name in Chad Mendes. After losing that bout, he dropped to bantamweight, where he won his debut before losing two in a row by decision. However, one was overturned after Chico Camus failed a drug test. Meza returned to featherweight in April, defeating Damian Stasiak by decision in Poland.
Sicilia's had an equally rocky run in the UFC, going 4-4 in his eight appearances. The Ultimate Fighter Live vet has had a couple of highlights, including an excellent knockout win over Akira Corassani in his last bout in January.
UFC Fight Night 71 airs live on Fox Sports 1 from San Diego on July 15, headlined by the heavyweight bout between Frank Mir and Todd Duffee.
