Joanne Calderwood was upset by Maryna Moroz in April, a shocking result given Calderwood's status as a potential title contender along with her undefeated record.

Following the event, there were rumblings that Calderwood was dealing with some significant and distracting personal issues into the fight. She's now set to return to action in her home country of Scotland in July, and says she's gotten things cleared up, and her mind straight into the fight with Bec Rawlings.

"As a fighter I really thrive with my team around me," Calderwood said in an interview with STV Glasgow. "I'm glad to be back and be around everyone, they are like my family, and to know my next fight is to be here in Glasgow is really special.

"I'm in a much better place now," she continued. "I had a few weeks after my last fight and sorted a lot of things out, there was some negative stuff that I had to deal with and that's all out in the open and I've dealt with and I'm much happier.

"Every fight is a stepping stone to where I want to be. The title is my goal but at the same time I want to be the best fighter I can be and I wasn't that night. I just want to make sure I show that fans and Glasgow what I'm capable of."

Calderwood got a chance to visualize what the event will be like in July, as she got to visit an empty SSE Hydro this week. She says that's given her even further motivation to perform come July 18.

"It's amazing. Now you know it's definitely coming, I'm sitting in the venue and it's finally here," she said. "I'm just trying to picture it in my head: what it's going to be like with all the fans, the Scotland flags and the UFC banner.

"I'm going to be dreaming about it tonight and up until the fight. I just can't wait to see and hear all you guys. I'm just thankful for everybody who is coming to the event and will help the sport. Hopefully this is the first of many more to come."

Penick's Analysis: While not taking away from what Moroz pulled off in their April bout, it was clear that Calderwood wasn't herself. She seemed off from the walkout on in Poland, and absolutely was not the fighter we'd seen previously. Hopefully she has gotten things figured out and gotten past whatever was affecting her into that April bout, and if that's the case she should put forth an good fight and a solid effort in front of a home crowd.
