"He fought a deflated Belfort. Vitor had no heart. Look at the difference in him when he showed up last week to what we've seen in the past. Chris is a tough guy, but that fight didn't prove anything. Vitor had one burst, and then he was done. He quit... I'll beat him in September in Las Vegas, and then we can have a rematch for my belt in Madison Square Garden... I'm better than him everywhere. I see it as a fight that will be on the feet. He's used to guys that don't want to go to the ground with him, but I don't mind the ground. I am going to control the fight and I'm going to get in his face. I'm not going anywhere."
-Luke Rockhold gives his thoughts on Chris Weidman's UFC 187 win over Vitor Belfort and why he thinks he's better than the Champ in an interview with BleacherReport.com.
Penick's Analysis: Weidman wasn't exactly the most complimentary towards Rockhold after his win last weekend, so it shouldn't be too surprising to see Rockhold return the favor with his own comments. It seems this should be the next fight for the UFC Middleweight Title. Whether or not that actually happens is up to the UFC, but there's plenty here between the two fighters to go on in order to promote that fight, even on top of how good they are. Hopefully we see it come together, because there's a ton to like about that potential matchup.
DON'T GO YET... WE SUGGEST THESE MMATORCH ARTICLES, TOO!
