Matt Brown has lost his last two fights in the UFC's welterweight divisions, with those two losses coming against the current and previous UFC Welterweight Champion in Robbie Lawler and Johny Hendricks.
In need of a relevant bounce back fight, Brown has his eyes set on the winner of the Carlos Condit vs. Thiago Alves bout from this weekend's UFC Fight Night 67 event, and he thinks it'll be Condit emerging victorious.
"I'm hoping I get the winner of that fight," Brown said on the latest Great MMA Debate podcast (via FoxSports.com). "That's what I would like. An ideal situation, I beat [Tim] Means and I get the winner of that fight. I'm picking Condit to win. Saying that I'm picking Condit definitely isn't taking anything away from Alves because he could absolutely win this fight."
Penick's Analysis: Brown, despite his losses to Lawler and Hendricks, can be a significant challenge for a lot of the fighters in this 170 lb. division. A fight between Brown and Condit would be fantastic, but given he's coming off of two losses, the UFC may not be inclined to give him a fight with a fighter coming off a win. That decision's still a couple months down the line, though, so a lot of things are possible at this point.
