Andrei Arlovski said this week that he returned to the UFC to make one more run at the UFC Heavyweight Championship, and he may get his shot at that Title after beating Travis Browne at UFC 187.
In one of the craziest one round fights in MMA history, Arlovski scored a TKO victory to improve to 3-0 in his latest stint in the organization.
The fight got off to a fast start, with both throwing strikes at one another. Arlovski then hurt Browne and started trying to swarm him. Browne would recover, only to get cracked by another hard combination that had him on wobbly legs.
Arlovski slowed down the attack a little bit, but then once again wobbled Browne, driving him to the cage to try to finish it off. Then, out of nowhere, Browne floored Arlovski with a strike. Unfortunately for him, he was still in such bad shape from the damage he'd taken that he stumbled as he tried to take advantage, and Arlovski got back to his feet.
The fight then came to the cage again, with Arlovski pressing Browne back. Browne tried to throw some strikes as his legs nearly gave out on him. He failed to land, and then Arlovski connected on some pin point strikes that had Browne hurt bad again. Browne wouldn't go down, but the ref had seen enough to stop the bout.
Given the state of the heavyweight division, that type of win may have just secured Arlovski a shot at the winner of next month's Cain Velasquez vs. Fabricio Werdum winner.
