Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza underwent a minor surgical procedure recently to repair damage to the menixcus in his left knee.
The surgery was revealed in a report on Wednesday's UFC Tonight program on Fox Sports 1, and it's expected to keep the middleweight contender out until September.
Souza believes he deserves a title shot against the winner of the Chris Weidman vs. Vitor Belfort fight happening this Saturday at UFC 187. However, he likely remains behind the man who took the Strikeforce Title from him several years ago in Luke Rockhold.
Penick's Analysis: The injury delay may work out alright for him, but not in the sense of getting a title fight when he returns. Instead, he'll still need to win a fight, but that may finally be a legitimate No. 1 contender matchup to face whomever wins between Rockhold and the Weidman-Belfort winner later this year.
