A fight between Holly Holm and Marion Reneau is headed to UFC Fight Night 71 in San Diego this July.
The UFC announced the bout on Thursday following an initial report from Wednesday's UFC Tonight program on Fox Sports 1.
Holm finally made her UFC debut in February at UFC 184, defeating Raquel Pennington for her eighth win in eight career MMA fights. The former boxing champion has made clear her willingness to progress naturally rather than rush right into the title picture, and she'll put her spot in line at risk against the surprising Reneau.
The 37-year-old Reneau comes in with the distinction of being the elder fighter, but with less competitive experience. However, she's come on as a pleasant surprise through two appearances in the UFC thus far. After being told by Dana White she was too old for The Ultimate Fighter 18, Reneau made her official debut against Alexis Dufresne at UFC 182. Less than two months later, she stepped in as a late replacement against Jessica Andrade and scored the upset submission win.
UFC Fight Night 71 hits San Diego on July 15, headlined by the heavyweight fight between Frank Mir and Todd Duffee.
