Ryan Bader and Daniel Cormier were supposed to meet in the main event of UFC Fight Night 68 next month, and the two of them exchanged some words this week in advance of UFC 187.
The back and forth started when Cormier told media this week that he thought Bader tried to "jump the line" for a title shot when Jones was pulled, and said "It's not like he beat anybody."
That led to Bader returning fire on Twitter, and the two essentially booked their title fight for if and when Cormier beats Anthony Johnson.
Ha! @dc_mma who the hell have you beat @ 205? No one in the top 10. Don't come at me and say I haven't beaten anyone https://t.co/h2aIiWXlZW
Penick's Analysis: It's funny that Cormier talks about jumping the line when he just got his shot and lost. Normally that would put one further back in the line. On top of that, Bader's got a point about just whom Cormier beat at 205 lbs. before getting his shot. Not that Bader's beaten a "who's who" of elite competition, but he's won several in a row himself in the division. Regardless, they may yet wind up fighting one another, I'm just not convinced the title will be on the line when it happens.
