Jun 26, 2009 - 4:22:58 PM By: Jamie Penick, MMATorch Editor-in-Chief The UFC will begin it's countdown of the top 100 fights in UFC history, as voted on by fans, on July 5th on Spike with their five part program "UFC's Ultimate 100: Greatest Fights."
A preset list of 181 fights is up for voting at Ultimate100.spike.com, featuring select fights dating back to UFC 1.
On top of that, Spike announced Friday that a marathon of the series will precede the UFC 100 pay-per-view broadcast on July 11th, with the initial airing of the fifth and final episode capping it off. The first four episodes of the series will air at 9PM ET from Sunday, July 5th, until Wednesday, July 8th.
Penick's Analysis: The show will definitely be a cool countdown to see which of the handpicked 181 fights make the list and where. Of course, there have already been some "revisionist history" style absences from the voting list and thus there may be some classic fights that don't have a chance to make the list. That said, it will be very intriguing to see what they put together for this show, and a full marathon of the 100 fight countdown will be a great way to gear up for the pay-per-view.

"There's still a large contingent of people, that they just want to see these guys almost die, or the other guy almost die and come back, and sometimes fights are like that. Certainly they are. But sometimes you get technical masterpieces too, and to hate a beautiful, technical fight - you're not really a fight fan...

"There was a lot of poison going on around there and I'm really disappointed because we had a good thing going. It was a good thing and I think people's egos got in the way. Well, not people just Javier, his ego got in the way, and too many cameras in the gym and him trying to build himself up and his brand, his AKA brand...
