UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey has been an unstoppable force thus far in her MMA career, and she's getting recognized for that outside of the MMA world.
Business Insider on Wednesday posted a list of the "50 Most Dominant Athletes Alive" for 2015, and they have Rousey listed in the top spot. Here's what they had to say about the 28-year-old crossover star:
"No athlete is the best in their sport by a wider margin than Rousey. Her two wins in the past year have lasted an average of 15 seconds. The UFC made her its first female fighter ever. In her five UFC fights, only one opponent has made it out of the first round without getting knocked out of submission. She's not just undefeated; she's effectively untouched."
Now-former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones made the list at No. 13 despite the UFC stripping him of that title last week.
Penick's Analysis: It's obviously a subjectively compiled list, but as they're seemingly using a system judging athletes as-compared-to-their-own-competition, it's easy to make an argument for Rousey. Relative to the competitors she's faced, Rousey is as dominant as they come to this point, and it's a run she may yet continue for the foreseeable future.
