In some expected news, it was announced on Monday night's episode of UFC Tonight that Michelle Waterson - the former Invicta FC Atomweight Champion - has signed with the UFC, and will make her debut this summer.
"The Karate Hottie" holds a 12-4 career record, and lost her Invicta FC title in December when she was submitted by Herica Tiburcio. Prior to that, Waterson had won six straight fights, and ten of her last 11.
Waterson has stopped ten opponents in her career, including the two fighters she faced in Invicta title bouts prior to the Tiburcio bout. The 29-year-old now jumps up to 115 lbs., and the UFC's newest division.
Penick's Analysis: Waterson's definitely got talent, but it's another fighter in this division who will be promoted based on her looks. That's not to say she's unable to compete in that division, as it's very possible she will, but she's getting an opportunity as much based on her looks as her merits.
DON'T GO YET... WE SUGGEST THESE MMATORCH ARTICLES, TOO!
