An arrest warrant has officially been issued for UFC Light Heavy Champion Jon Jones in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and arrangements have been made for the fighter to turn himself in.
The Albuquerque police department released the warrant on Monday afternoon, which you can read here.
The charges against Jones are for felony fleeing the scene of an accident. Jones was recognized by an off duty officer after allegedly running a red light and hitting the vehicle of a 25 year old pregnant woman. Initially a misdemeanor, the charges were upgraded when it was revealed she had suffered a broken arm.
Penick's Analysis: The UFC is going to have to make some type of move on him here. I don't think they can keep him on the UFC 187 card, and depending on what happens with this case they may strip him of the title. That's not unreasonable, because this is a situation that makes Jones look even worse than the cocaine and his last DUI.
UPDATE: Jones has officially surrendered himself to the police, and is in custody in Albuquerque.
