The Albuquerque police department has shed some further light on an alleged incident regarding UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones.
While a previous report allegedly confirmed that Jones had been in a car accident in the city, the police department now says that Jones is wanted for questioning in regards to an accident that occurred.
According to a report from Marc Raimondi at MMAFighting.com, a middle-aged woman's car was struck, and she suffered non-threatening injuries. The driver of the other vehicle fled the scene, and though Jones isn't being named as a suspect, they want to speak to him and aren't sure of his whereabouts.
As to an initial rumor regarding drugs in a vehicle of Jones', that has been shot down by the APD as well.
I just got off the phone w/ Albuquerque Information Police Officer Simon Drobik here's what he said:
Penick's Analysis: With non-life threatening injuries on the woman whose car was struck, any charges brought forth should Jones be a guilty party will be less than might have been feared. Now, fleeing the scene is worthy of charges in its own right, and if that's what happened with Jones he will face the consequences. Ultimately, he needs to be found to bring to light whatever may have happened, and the UFC has to hope he hasn't suffered any injuries if he was in this accident.
