An exciting lightweight matchup is the latest addition to July's UFC on Fox 16 event, as Joe Lauzon will take on Takanori Gomi on the July 25 card in Chicago.
The UFC announced the fight on Thursday evening.
Lauzon, who has won more fight night bonuses than any other fighter in UFC history, will try to bounce back from a TKO loss to Al Iaquinta in January. The 30-year-old will make his 19th appearance inside the Octagon.
Longtime Japanese vet Gomi returns for the first time since his TKO loss to Myles Jury last September. Jury is competing on the card himself, taking on former Champ Anthony Pettis on the main card.
Gomi should have been on a four fight winning streak into the Jury fight, as his only loss in his previous four fights was a controversial split decision against Diego Sanchez.
UFC on Fox 16 comes to the United Center with a main event between T.J. Dillashaw and Renan Barao for the UFC Bantamweight Championship.
