Luke Rockhold added an extra $50,000 to his bank account on Saturday night, as his main event win over Lyoto Machida won one of two "Performance of the Night" bonuses at UFC on Fox 15.
Rockhold solidified his No. 1 contender status in the fight, beating Machida up badly in the first and submitting him in the second. Machida never really recovered from the damage done in the first round, and the former Strikeforce Champion took advantage.
Max Holloway earned the other "Performance of the Night" bonus in his co-main event destruction of Cub Swanson. The 23-year-old lit Swanson up throughout the 15 minute bout, hurting him badly in the third before also scoring a submission win.
In what's become a rarity as of late, the UFC awarded a "Fight of the Night" bonus to both Gian Villante and Corey Anderson for their competitive preliminary card scrap. Anderson seemed to be well on his way to winning a decision with a more active striking attack, but Villante cracked him with a huge right hand to the temple late in the third that put Anderson out on his feet. Villante attacked further, and the ref stopped the fight with Anderson barely standing at the cage.
